Information & FAQs

Markenlogo roter Hase (Dore von den Klangstrolchen)

For children aged approximately 6 to 18 months and their parents | Kultur Palast Billstedt

In this age group, children experience a wide variety of music with all their senses, together with their carers. They listen to different genres of music with varying rhythms and tempos and can ‘immerse’ themselves in the music through singing, listening and rocking. They discover their voices, react spontaneously to sounds and – depending on their stage of development – are allowed to try out simple instruments.
Please note: The age ranges are guidelines; depending on a child’s development, their abilities may fall outside these groups.

Markenlogo grüne Schildkröte (Mifa von den Klangstrolchen)

For children aged 1½ to 3 years with their parents | Billstedt

For this age group too, the focus is on establishing and developing musical abilities and skills through the voice, movement exercises and playing instruments. The Music Learning Theory continues to be put into practice here in a playful way.

Simple motor skills are practised through dances, movement songs and joint activities involving parents, children and the group. This allows the children to discover their own voices and bodies without any pressure to perform.

Markenlogo blauer Frosch (Sola von den Klangstrolchen)

For children aged 3 to 4.5 years with their parents | Billstedt

This course builds on the first two courses, although this is not strictly necessary. The aim remains the same: through voice, movement and musical instruments, the children are introduced to music from a wide variety of cultures and eras, and continue to have the opportunity to engage actively with Edwin E. Gordon’s Music Learning Theory through making music and improvising.

The children’s world of experience broadens; they become aware of the changing seasons and experience the cycle of the year with increasing awareness. This is incorporated into the Sola lessons. Language and music are increasingly linked.

Markenlogo brauner Bär (Tido von den Klangstrolchen)

For children aged 4.5 to 6 | Billstedt

Like all the other courses, the course for the ‘biggest little rascals’ is similar in content to the previous ones, though it does not necessarily build on them. At this age, greater emphasis is placed on creativity and improvisation in relation to language, movement and instruments. Edwin E. Gordon’s Music Learning Theory also plays a role here in its practical application.

Singing, exploring the voice, listening and moving: the ‘Klangstraße’ is a concept for making music with children that has evolved from many years of practical experience. A sense of rhythmic patterns is consolidated. Depending on the child’s needs, parents may accompany their child during the sessions.

Courses for children and young people

Musiker spielt Konzertgitarre.

Ages 6 and over | Kultur Palast Billstedt
With ‘Gitarre Hamburg’, we offer beginner’s courses for primary school-aged children (approx. 6–12 years) with no prior experience. Over the course of an academic year, the children will learn about the instrument, correct posture, basic playing techniques, the fundamentals of reading music and their first chord accompaniments. Children must bring their own guitar.

Unfortunately, we are not currently running any guitar courses.

For children aged 6 to 13

Healthy exercise is important. In big cities in particular, children have few opportunities to give their musculoskeletal system a proper workout and are often physically overburdened as they grow. This can lead to poor posture and low self-esteem. At the Wu Dao Kung Fu School in Hamburg, children not only learn to manage their own strength in a fun way, but also how to interact with others in a sociable and respectful manner.

Kung Fu lessons for children promote motor skills and coordination, concentration, attentiveness, discipline, self-confidence and, above all, a love of physical activity.

Kung Fu for Children | Friday 5.00 pm – 6.00 pm |
